Why we ride and how your donation helps

Despite the fact that PLGA is the most commonly diagnosed brain tumor in kids, and the greatest cause of children's cancer deaths, it is not a research priority. PLGA is an orphan disease. That means that if something is going to happen to get to a cure for this disease, it is going to start with us.

Four years ago, we joined with three other families, each of whom is living the constant struggle of having a child with this diagnosis. We're priviledged to join with these families to champion our children and lead the push for more research.

Over the last five years, our teams raised more than $6 million to fund 12 highly-rated peer reviewed research projects specifically focused on unlocking the secrets of this disease. This year, we founded the PLGA Foundation as a focal organization for fundraising and research activities.

Our family, along with our friends from Team Samantha, Team TJ, and Team Jake, will continue to work together, through the PLGA Foundation, to fundraise, lobby and increase the profile of this disease among researchers so they will focus on a cure for our kids.

There is a lot more to be done if we are to have any impact that will help Lucy and our buddies in their lifetimes. That's why we're riding. If we can direct dollars for research, we'll get new, better, kinder treatments for Lucy and other kids.

Donations made to TEAM LUCY go towards supporting pediatric brain tumor research which we know will help Lucy and the thousands of other kids who, like her, are afflicted with this potentially deadly disease.
